04/17 Structure Fire

Colchester FD was dispatched to O'Connell Rd for a residential structure fire. Enroute, Car1 struck a 2nd alarm & a LVL 1 tanker strike team due to the numerous calls received by KX dispatch. On arrival, Car1 found heavy fire showing from the 2nd floor & roof of a 2.5 story wood frame house. Engine1's crew stretched a 2.5" handline and put it to work on Side-B. Engine1's chauffeur made a blitz attack with the deck gun, & an additional crew stretched a 2" handline to Side-D. Both handline crews made a transitional attack (exterior attack first, then an interior attack) & entered the structure to the 2nd floor. Crews operated in heavy fire conditions w/ (1) 1.75" & (1) 2" line while a third crew completed primary searches. A third alarm w/ special call brought water & additonal companies to the scene. Yantic FD's FAST team was put to work & the City of Norwich stood by as FAST. Companies worked hard over the next few hours to contain the blaze. 1 Firefighter was transported w/ minor injuries due to a partial roof collapse (he'll be back in no time!) Thank you to all the department's who responded!

**I'll have some more pics & video later**
