A local commercial occupancy is undergoing big upgrades. They are installing Solar panels atop their roof. These panels will supply the company with more than enough power for normal business operation.

Sandy Hook - Newtown, CT

12/12 East Hampton Dryer Fire

East Hampton FD responded to the local laundromat for a reported dryer fire. Units arrived to find a light smoke condition on the first floor w/ a small fire located within one of the dryer units. The fire was extinguished a short while later.

Colchester's Tanker went mutual aid as part of a strike team, to Oakdale, for a structure fire. This call originated as a Fire Alarm for Oakdale FD. The first arriving units confirmed a working structure fire & mutual aid was started. This goes to show that there is no 'Routine' call in the fire service - Don't become complacent!

10/31 Structure Fire

At 1110hrs CHFD was dispatched to 364 Chestnut Hill Rd for a reported residential structure fire. C28 arrived, to find heavy fire showing from the C/D side. Engine1 arrived shortly after and stretched an 1 3/4 to the D side, knocking down a majority of the exterior fire while a second line was being stretched to the front door. Truck 1's members forced the front door & began primary searches which were hindered by Collier's Mansion conditions throughout the entire residence. The second due Engine company began vertical & horizontal ventilation to lighten interior conditions. Primary & secondary searches turned up negative & the fire was placed under control a short while later. Thanks to all who responded!
