1) The near-simultaneous ignition of the exposed combustible material in an enclosed area.
2) Flashover may occur at any point within a fire or may NEVER occur.

4) 2 seconds - 5 feet! Know your escape!

06/24 Motorcycle Crash

Dispatched to a motorcyclist down - Unknown injuries. American Ambulance arrived first to find 1 PT w/ a head injury & combative - No entrapment. PT was packaged & transported ALS to Hartford Hospital.


06/24 MVA w/ Entrapment

2 Vehicle T-bone style crash w/ 1 PT entrapped. Rescue1 went to work removing the door while EMS attended the other victims. 2 PT's were transported ALS to Hartford Hospital.





06/24 Task Force 57 Activation

Task Force 57 was activated for the search of a missing 18 year old female, who was involved in an MVA, in Ellington, CT.

06/18 Salem Structure Fire

Colchester's Engine, Tanker, & Ambulance responded to Salem for a residential structure fire. Also, a suspect was shot & killed by CT state troopers. The fire & shooting is under investigation by the CT State Police FMO & Major Crimes.

06/15 Capt. Jones's 50 Years of Service Awards

John Jones, Captain of Colchester's Fire Police Division, celebrated this 50th year of active service! More than 50 people attended the festivity to congratulate & give thanks to the well renowned 'Jonsey.' Not only has he been a grave asset to our organization, but hes always been there in the time of need. Some people would consider him "the big brother" of our department. In any case, Captain Jones continues to inspire all of us. His dedication & devotion for the job will never go unnoticed, nor be forgotten. We thank you Capt. for the last 50 years & look forward to the next 50! Congratulations!

06/11 Hebron Lightening Strike

CHFD responded to Hebron for a lightening strike w/ smoke in the building. Units were released on arrival.

06/11 Structure Fire

CHFD responded along with the East Hampton FAST team to Westchester Village for an electrical fire underneath one of the units. The fire was put out prior to FD arrival by a pressurized water hose which had burned through & acted as a type of 'sprinkler.' - FD units were cleared shortly after.

06/08 MVA Rollover - Entrapment

Dispatched to the L.A.H. (Limited Access Highway) for a single vehicle rollover, into the woods, with 2 injuries. Car1 arrived to find a sedan on its side, with hvy damage & 2 PT's (1 PT believed to be ejected & lying along the roadside & a 2nd PT still inside the vehicle, entrapped.) Rescue 1 went work extricating the trapped & injured male, while EMS attended to the already extricated female. The new TNT cutters & spreads made for quick work on the older style sedan. Both PT's were transported ALS to Hartford Hospital with major injuries.
